Vizioncore vFoglight 6 with External SQL database not a nice setup!

December 15, 2009 Leave a comment

Last weak during the CDG roundtable session with Scot Herold from Quest i also had the opportunity to chat with Tyler Jewell the VP Product Manager @ Quest.
We discussed the new Vizioncore vFoglight 6 version and what is the best way to implement a Database. I told him that i just implemented Foglight at a costumer (Electrabel) and used a MS SQL Database. Challenge was how to use a service account as DB owner and where to place the DB. Tyler was surprised i used the MS SQL option and not the MYSQL build in Database and advised me to do so in reasonable sized environments.
With the MS SQL DB yo have to use an SA account and not prepare a database yourself! Vfoglight wil create the database itself and place this on the C:\ drive…. I moved it to other disk and it is working now but very slow. Working on a solution now with Vizioncore Support and will keep you informed!

So implementing vFoglight use the embedded Database!
